MY BABY

Tyrese Lady Gaga Jones has grown to be a full fledged flower. I am so proud. Hopefully Tyrese will sprout and give me some grandbabies! His sister Lashundra Alazae Jenkins Jones has not yet sprouted but hopefully she will soon!

Macon Dog Park

Dog Parks. A nice place to take your puppy or full-grown dog to socialize, have fun, and just get outside of the house. Dog Parks are great for the community as it gives dogs and humans alike a place to go and let loose. The two dogs alone we saw in the dog park were having so much fun together and they had never seen each other before. I wish people were more like dogs when it comes to getting along........

There are concerns when you take your dog to the dog park though. These concerns are various diseases that other pups may carry. So make sure your dog has all of his or her shots and hopefully there will be no problem for anyone!

Mitochondrial Eve

Mitochondrial Eve was a sweet lady. Here is her picture:

Egyptians

Africans

Italians

Germans

We all come from Mitochondrial Eve. That's why there are similar facial structures throughout the various races.

BioDiesel

Bio diesel fuel should be used by all. It is an alternative source to using our natural gases up. I honestly wish we could find a way to turn garbage into a fuel source.

This person had the same idea as me when it came to turning waste into a renewable fuel source!

Bryson's Dilemma

Unfortunately, at the very beginning of the Darwin's Dilemma video I had to go be advised so that I could register for classes! Therefore, I have very little to say about this film, but I heard it was very very good!

Hitchiti Experimental Forest

What a day! This was the most fun I have ever had on any class/lab excursion EVER! Thanks Dr Rood! Anyways, we got to see various points of the river as well as get in it (for some of us). I ended up in the river on more than one occasion because I decided to take the scenic route along with a few other daredevils.

I also hugged a tree but my picture wont upload for some reason. So I will supplement it with another photo of some fellow tree huggers:
I hope this doesn't offend anyone..... I thought it was funny :)

Jackson Springs Park

While discussing the various types of rocks, we went to Jackson Springs Park! It was fun we learned how to determine what a gneiss rock is. Here's a picture:
There was a whole lot of hornblende as well as granite. Here's some pictures:

Ocmulgee National Monument

This week we went to the Ocmulgee National Monument. We got to see the various Indian mounds as well as a little detour into the woods where I met my best friend aka box turtle and she was awesome.
I forgot what I initially named my child of a box turtle but the one above looks like a Shania!

Anyways, it was really awesome to see the city of Macon from such a high vantage point. Macon doesn't seem very nice when you're in the middle of the city. But from above it looks beautiful. I'll definitely be going back to show some friends.

Here's a link to the Ocmulgee National Monument Website:

There you can find all of the information you need about the park and how to enjoy it!

Community Gardens

This week we went to the community garden right off of campus.

Here's a link to the website:

Community Gardens help add a sense of community for people all working towards a common goal. There is shared responsibility because if you take you must give back in working on the community garden. Community gardens help people become more consistent and they actually can see (or taste) the efforts of their labor pay off!

Trees & Shrubs!

Red Maple /Acer rubrum

River Birch/Betula nigra

American Holly/Ilex opaca

Sweetgum/Liquidambar styraciflua

SHRUBS and PLANTS
Elephant ear, Xanthosoma colocasia

Mums, Chrysanthemum morifolii

Zinnia, Zinnia elegans

Lab #2

In this lab we went to the Ocmulgee River (did I spell that right) We measured the different elevations along the river, although I was entirely too busy exploring/floating on logs. it was a lot of fun but I ended up very wet. I almost ruined my social security card that was in my wallet.....that would've been a disaster. My baby is doing quite well. i don't want to post pictures of it until the end when it is a perfect little sunflower child though.
Someone flipping a boat into the Ocmulgee River....sort of like our log!
